Identifying My Telescope Type

Stargraph will ask you if you have an Alt-Az (Standard) telescope or if you have an Equatorial telescope.

Alt-Az Telescope Mounts

This kind of telescope mount (also known as an Altitude-Azimuth mount) is the most traditional type of telescope. You can identify it because it is able to move left/right and up/down.

Equatorial Telescope Mounts

This kind of telescope mount is a more advanced style that fixes the optical tube so it can only move in alignment with the equatorial plane. Throughout a night, stars will only move along the Right Ascension axis. Due to the structure of an Equatorial mount, tracking a star becomes very easy once you've found it initially.
